To Africa this month . . . In the late 40's, ZQP was often heard around 1030 on 9710 kHz, despite a power of only 2.5 kw. The other channels were 500 watts.

The Radio Abidjan QSL is pretty much of a classic. This 1952 card was for a 10 kw transmitter on 4945 kHz, close to its long time channel of 4940.

(Below) ZTJ, the African Broadcasting Co. Ltd., was the great grandfather of today's Radio RSA. The station later burned down. (Check out the P.O. Box on this 1935 card.)
